Geography Departments of North America: A Service to the Academic Community of Geographers and Students
Go Directly to the Geography Departments of North America Map (The Map has been updated as of 9 July 2008)
Created By: Allen Finchum Special Assistance Provided By: Robert Biffle, Varun Chudiwale Map Last Updated: Wednesday 9 July 2008 DESCRIPTION: By default, the map shows the general location and highest degree offered by 338 Geography Departments at Colleges and Universities in the United States and Canada and the location of 6 non-academic members listed the the AAG Guide. The schools/departments are classified as shown below, and the primary data source for this project was taken from the 2007-08 edition of the Guide to Geography Departments published by the Association of American Geographers:
All academic listings are for programs that offer at least the BS/BA level degree with a major in Geography.. As the user zooms in to various scales, different layers and labeling become available to assist in identifying the schools/departments desired, and their more specific location. In addition, at ANY scale the user may select the hyperlink option in ArcIMS (either the "Select Website" or the lightning bolt icon/button) and click on the desired school/department and be directed to the Departmental Website for the Geography or related department at that institution. If the user comes across a broken link or misplaced location point, please feel free to contact us and we will update the point/information as soon as possible (please send the correct link if known). We hope you find this site useful and please feel free to contact us with your comments: (allen.finchum@okstate.edu). This site was created with the assistance of students in Geography 4353 during the Fall Term of 2002. |
