Site Instructions

Following are the instructions for use of this website.  They include important information about Basic Web Navigation and about ArcIMS Functions.  Read this information carefully before beginning your search.  If you have questions about your web browser, please refer to the help function in your particular browser.

Basic Web Navigation

All webpages, except the ArcIMS map page, function just like any other webpage.  Any titles with underlined blue writing are links to what that particular title describes.  If you don't want to interact with the map, there is a list of all the National Register of Historic Places sites by county as well as a list of all the address-restricted sites on the National Register.  The address-restricted sites can only be viewed through the list because there is no point on the map to identify them.  There is a bookmark at the top of the page to allow you to go directly to the county you wish to view.  For example, if you want to look at Tulsa County, click on the "T" and scroll down until you find it.

ArcIMS Functions

There are a few basic rules to know about ArcIMS.  First, when you are viewing the map do not click the back button in your browser.  REPEAT: DO NOT CLICK THE BACK BUTTON!  Your browser will crash if you do this and you will have to start again.  In addition, do not click the refresh button in your browser, either.  If you want to refresh the map, please click the "Layers" button and click "refresh this view."  Also, ArcIMS does not like having the window maximized or resized.  The image does not conform to the size you chose.  This is a software issue that will be addressed.  Following is the list of tool buttons for the site and their functions.

Layers

Use this tool to view the list of available maps.  Those maps that are checked as "visible" can be seen on the view.  "Active" map layer performs search, query and identification operations.
