DESCRIPTION: THE ST THOMAS PRIMITIVE BAPTIST CHURCH IN SUMMIT, OKLAHOMA WAS SIGNIFICANT IN THE EARLY SETTLEMENT AND DEVELOPMENT OF THIS ALL-BLACK TOWN. THE CHURCH BUILDING IS THE OLDEST, INTACT PUBLIC BUILDING IN TOWN AND SERVED A CENTRAL ROLE IN THE SOCIO-CULTURAL DEVELOPMENT OF THE TOWN. THE CHURCH IS A SINGLE-STORY, FRONT-GABLED STONE BUILDING. A SQUARE CUPOLA IS LOCATED ON THE RIDGE AT THE EAST END OF THE ROOF. LISTED IN NATIONAL REGISTER 3/3/2004.
