DESCRIPTION: THE AMERICAN LEGION HUT IN TAHLEQUAH IS A SINGLE STORY NATIVE SANDSTONE BUILDING CONSTRUCTED BY THE WPA IN 1937. SINCE ITS CONSTRUCTION, THE BUILDING HAS SERVED AS AN IMPORTANT SOCIAL CENTER AND MEETING HALL IN THE COMMUNITY AND IS AN EXCELLENT EXAMPLE OF THE THE WPA STYLE AND OF THE CONTRIBUTIONS OF THIS IMPORTANT PUBLIC WORKS PROGRAM. LISTED IN NATIONAL REGISTER 8/24/2006.
