DESCRIPTION: A NATURAL TOWER OF RED SANDSTONE JUTTING ITS WAY UPWARD FROM THE LEVEL PLAIN, ROCK MARY BECAME A LANDMARK ON THE CALIFORNIA ROAD. FIRST NOTED IN 1849 IN TRAVEL DIARIES, IT HAS LONG REMAINED A LOCAL LANDMARK. LISTED IN NATIONAL REGISTER 6/22/70.
