DESCRIPTION: THE CANADIAN COUNTY JAIL WAS DESIGNED BY NOTED ARCHITECT SOLOMON LAYTON AND CONSTRUCTED IN 1906. IT IS OF THE ITALIAN RENNAISSANCE REVIVAL STYLE AND IS FINISHED IN DRESSED STONE WITH QUARRY-FACED STONE BELTS. A PROMINENT PEDIMENT SUPPORTED BY MASSIVE DORIC COLUMNS MARKS THE ENTRY. THE STABLE IS BRICK, TWO STORIES IN HEIGHT, AND FEATURES SEGMENTAL ARCH WINDOWS. LISTED IN NATIONAL REGISTER 11/14/85 AND 12/14/95.
