DESCRIPTION: CONSTRUCTED AROUND 1910 BY THE SOUTHERN SURETY COMPANY, THIS EIGHTY-STORY SKYSCRAPER REFLECTS THE SIGNIFICANCE OF MUSKOGEE AS THE STATES LARGEST CITY DURING THE PERIOD IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING STATEHOOD. ITS SULLIVANESQUE-TYPE ARCHITECTURE INDICATES THE PROMINENCE OF MUSKOGEES DOWNTOWN COMMERCIAL DISTRICT AND IT IS AMONG THE FIRST SKYSCRAPERS BUILT IN NORTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA. THE BUILDING IS CLAD IN RED BRICK, MARBLE, AND GLAZED TERRA COTTA. LISTED IN NATIONAL REGISTER 9/4/1986.
